MoveUp’s in-house video studio: output that no longer depends on the size of the team, and nothing spent without a person’s click.
Context
MoveUp Media runs a network of sports media brands whose content has three jobs: build community, publish tips and rank in search. All three need volume, and video made by hand scales only with headcount, is slow to react to the news and comes out inconsistent.
Video Studio is the internal answer, made for the content team, producers and creatives rather than developers: a tool that turns a link or a topic into a finished video in the brand’s own identity, without an editor, a voice actor or a designer in the loop.
Objective
Make video output independent of the team’s size, so the scarce resource becomes editorial judgement rather than production hours. Every generation costs money, so the second goal was just as firm: nothing runs without a preview of what will be sent and an explicit click.
Process
I set the product’s principles before the screens: cost is sacred, the video is the star, the flow is always visible, state is never a mystery. They decided most of the interface. The one action that spends money is set apart, with a preview of the payload and a price shown twice, estimated before and charged after. Every job carries a status colour from detected to published; empty states explain the next step; and the tour is drawn with the design system’s own mini wireframes, so it never goes out of date the way screenshots do. The two ways in were named by intent, Autopilot and Editor.
The first brand template was for Italia Casinos: short casino game guides for YouTube, in Italian, presented by an AI dealer. Two layouts were tested. The approved one alternates the presenter’s frame from side to side, with a large data block opposite that never touches her, and every cue lands on the word she is saying; since the avatar service returns no timestamps, each take is measured first.
Identity
The Studio is built on MoveUp’s design system: a pink scale on light surfaces, Plus Jakarta Sans for headings and Archivo for text, pill buttons and a wine gradient on the sidebar, with the paid action in a darker pink. The generic slate-and-blue SaaS look was ruled out. The videos take their identity from each brand instead, through one theme per site measured from the site itself. For Italia Casinos the palette follows the brand’s green banners rather than the site’s white and red, and the 18+ line, no promise of winnings and a scene of honest warnings are fixed parts of every video.
Outcome
The Studio went into daily use with MoveUp’s content team, in ten formats with two presenters. The Italia Casinos template has carried eight game guides so far, from blackjack and poker to roulette, slot volatility, house edge and baccarat. Two steps are still manual, the presenter’s take and the YouTube upload; automating them comes next, along with opening the template to the group’s other casino brands in their own identity and language.
