The on-air identity of NFL Halftime, The Playoffs’ weekly NFL show: one broadcast system for every moment of the program.

Context

The Playoffs is a Brazilian media brand dedicated to American sports and an official NBA media partner in Brazil. Its YouTube channel is home to NFL Halftime, a weekly live show about the NFL for Brazilian fans.

Objective

Give the show an identity that works as a system. Every moment of a broadcast, from the countdown to the final standings and the vertical cuts for social media, comes from the same set of graphics.

Process

The package works as a design system. Its colours, its type and the graphic language of the sport are pieces that compose every template, so a new screen starts from parts that already belong together. The busiest screens now use fewer, larger elements that read at a glance on air, and official club marks replaced drawn helmets. To present the package, the templates became live graphics that move the way they do in a broadcast.

Identity

The identity takes its energy from game day, with a deep blue, a hot gradient from amber to red and a strong geometric typeface. Its graphic language comes from the field itself: yard numbers, rulers, stripes and an eagle drawn in line.

Outcome

The package went on air with the show on The Playoffs’ YouTube channel, where its episodes have added up to more than 300,000 views. The same templates now also exist as live graphics, in Portuguese and English.

Club marks are trademarks of their owners.
